The purchase of new instruments has increased the laboratory sequencing capacity:
Dual Cycler
Dual cycler is a programmable incubator block used for the synthesis of chromosomal DNA fragments of bacterial pathogens for subsequent genetic analysis.
Automated Sequencer
Automated sequenceruses a fluorescence-based parallel capillary electrophoresis technology for the analysis of DNA nuclotide fragments and gene sequence of bacterial strains. The analyzer is controlled by a computer with data collection, gene sequence analysis and single-nucleotide polymorphism analysis software.

Health professionals can find information on the Project in the article entitled The Project that will map Czech Bacteria published in the Medical Tribune.

The general public was familiarized with the Project by Ondřej Vrtiška in his article National Institute of Public Health will map Dangerous Bacteria in the journal Týden.

Economic aspects of the Project in particular are dealt with in the article National Institute of Public Health will be able to better map the Incidence of Meningococcus on the server of the Czech News Agency called Finanční noviny.cz.

Starting the website

Three weeks after its opening the Project has also got its internet face – the pages you are viewing at the moment.

We are going to add the English translation and an RSS newsletter to keep you informed of the progress of the Project and latest events without any requirement for registration, entering e-mail address, regular opening of the site or active search. Nevertheless, news will also appear on this website.

The website uses standard web technologies and is compatible with all modern web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer, Opera, Safari, Lynx, etc.), including alternative web readers. The website was created by Atelier GINGO.

Starting the Project

The grant from the FM EEA/Norway allowed us to do the first steps to start the Project.

According to the plan, stage 1, i.e. the preparatory stage, is in progress. The documents to invite tenders for supplying the necessary equipment are being prepared pursuant to Public Procurement Act No. 13/2006. Sequence characterization of N. meningitidis isolates from the recent invasive cases is being performed using the existing equipment.

We have booked the domain Sekvenace.cz and farmed out the website creation to present the Project not only to health professionals but also to other interested persons (the outcome is the site you are viewing at the moment).

Grant application was approved
Our more than two-year efforts to obtain the grant from FM EEA/Norway to promote NIPH sequencing services were crowned with success.

RSS newsletter

You can access the news on the server Sekvenace.cz the following ways:

What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a web technology making it possible for the user to obtain information on new contents of web servers of his/her choice. The service can be easily turned off or on again and the periodicity with which the new contents are provided and other parameters can be adjusted. This all can be done with no need for registration or provision of e-mail address or any other data.

For these purposes, simple features added to web browsers (information channels are a standard part of most modern browsers) or special programs called RSS readers are used. Simple RSS readers are also available on information panels of the home pages of the modern web browsers (Seznam, Google, etc.). The user can create an automatically updated virtual notice board according to his/her interests. Some futuristic operation systems even make it possible to place such information directly on the computer desktop.
